Den Of Laughs has booked two function rooms in Lee Wood Hotel for Buxton Fringe Festival, these are identical rooms, Pendennis 2 on the ground floor, and Canyons in the basement (accessible via stairs and lift).

Dates: Saturday-Sunday 11th-12th July, and Saturday-Sunday 18th-19th July.

Times: 12noon-10pm on Saturday, 12noon-9pm on Sunday (We will be staggering the shows, Pendennis starting at 12noon, Canyons starting at 12:30pm)


Age restrictions: – None during the day, 16+ shows after 6pm. Please specify what your show’s age restriction should be when applying.

“The Lee Wood Hotel is one of the most perfectly positioned hotels in Buxton, right in the heart of the Peak District National Park.”
It is located in central Buxton, an 8 minute walk from Pavilion Arts Centre and Fringe Hub, and a 10 minute walk to Buxton Opera House, and 13 minutes walk from Buxton station.

The Pendennis 2 room was used for 11 comedy shows one weekend in July 2025, including a few sold out shows.

Fee

Buxton Fringe Registration Fee = £55 before end of February 2026,

£77 before end of March 2026

£88 after this.

Venue Admin fee is £50 for a 1 hour show (if you want to do a longer show, then the fee might need to increase a bit to cover the room hire costs) 

Recommended ticket price = £7 – £12 – You get 100% of ticket sales. 
You can do Pay What You Want if you prefer – I would suggest doing it as £5 in advance, pay what you want on the door. Buxton is an affluent town, so take this into consideration when setting your price.

You can also choose if you want to offer a concessionary price for OAPs, students, unemployed people and disabled people.

We will use Ticketsource for ticket sales. 

£50 venue fee goes towards room hire, posters and online advertising, as well as a venue specific brochure.

This will be 4 page A5, with all shows listed in detail. Handed out after each show, as well as available at other comedy venues and information points / shops around Buxton. Posters will be for the venue, with QR code to ticket sales, and will be put up in shop windows and notice boards around Buxton and suburbs. Online advertising is targeted FB / Insta adverts for the venue. 

We will help you to produce your own show posters, printing is included in the cost. We will have a display table in the hotel foyer and in each room.

We’re interested in a broad range of comedy styles (standup, sketch, improv, musical, panel, podcasts etc).

Performance Space: Pendennis 2 Room – Ground Floor

– Stage: 4m (wide) by 3m (deep) on flat floor. Can be made larger by removing seating. There is no back stage.

– Seating: Capacity 40 people, fully seated. 5 rows, with 2×4 seats per row. There is potential capacity for a 6th row – these seats would be sold on the door. 

– Lighting: LED Par Can to flood light stage.

– Sound: 8 Channel Mixer, cables for MP3 player / phone, with 2 Mics, Cables and Mic stands. Performers own sound equipment can be added easily

– AV: We have a short throw projector and screen available – please let us know if this is required, as it will be shared across the 2 rooms.

– Storage: There is no storage space available. 

– Bar: There is no bar in the room, there is a bar across the hallway. 

Access: There is wheelchair access, along with disabled toilets available. 

Performance Space: Canyons Room – Basement 

– Stage: 4m (wide) by 3m (deep) on flat floor. Can be made larger by removing seating. There is no back stage.

– Seating: Capacity 40 people, fully seated. 5 rows, with 2×4 seats per row. There might be potential capacity for a 6th row, if so then these seats would be sold on the door.
